Lawsuit Settled In SC Learjet Accident

Former Blink-182 Drummer Settles Case For An "Undisclosed" Sum

Travis Barker, the former drummer for the band Blink-182, has settled his lawsuit against Learjet and other companies stemming from a 2008 accident which killed both pilots and two other people. Barker, along with radio host DJ-AM (Adam Goldstein), survived the crash, though Goldstein later died of unrelated causes.

The BBC reports that a lawyer for the companies involved declined to reveal the terms of the settlement.

Barker had sued Learjet, along with Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company and the Clay Lacy Aviation, the jet's owner, for failure to properly maintain the aircraft. The jet's thrust reversers were apparently not in the correct position during takeoff, which the NTSB said caused it to veer of the runway and crash on a nearby road.

Goldstein died of an apparent drug overdose several months after the accident, which his estate says was brought on by post-traumatic stress following the crash. The estate has filed suit against Learjet, Clay Lacy Aviation, Goodyear, and the estates of the two pilots.
