News From Paris: Sikorsky Delivers Black Hawk Helos To Jordan

Three UH-60Ls First Of Eight Planned Deliveries

Sikorsky Aircraft Corp. tells ANN it announced the delivery Monday of three UH-60L Black Hawk helicopters to the Kingdom of Jordan and the scheduled delivery of another five in 2007. Sikorsky made the announcement at the Paris Air Show.

The Jordanian Special Operations Aviation Brigade will use the Black Hawk helicopters for special operations and border security. Since 1987 the Royal Jordanian Air Force has flown Sikorsky aircraft and currently operates five UH-60/S-70A helicopters in its Royal Squadron. The new aircraft were accepted officially at a recent ceremony in Amman, Jordan.

The foreign military sale was structured through the US government. Today, Black Hawk derivatives are serving 26 governments around the world in a diverse range of missions, from combat assault and peacekeeping to disaster relief and medical evacuation. Sikorsky also plans to introduce a Black Hawk model specifically for the international market, with production taking place in Mielec, Poland, and deliveries starting in 2010-2011.

"The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and Sikorsky Aircraft have maintained a long relationship that began under His Majesty King Hussein and today continues under his eldest son, His Majesty King Abdullah. We are honored to provide these aircraft, and we look forward to continuing our relationship for many years to come," said James Beahon, Sikorsky Regional Sales Manager for Middle East and Asia.
