First Flight: IS&S/Adviz Equipped Citation

First IS&S Adviz Retrofitted Citation Flies

Innovative Solutions & Support, Inc. is flying their first Cessna Citation aircraft retrofitted with its AdViz Flat Panel Display System.

In January 2007, Cessna Aircraft Company chose Innovative Solutions & Support (IS&S) as the flat panel display system provider for the Cessna AdViz Glass cockpit retrofit program. Cessna and IS&S wanted to replace aging flight instruments on legacy Citations with the AdViz system, resulting in reduced weight; improved reliability; and access to navigational aids, such as XM Weather, navigation charts, remote radio tuning, and enhanced video. The AdViz system will initially be available for purchase through the nine Cessna-owned Citation Service Centers, and will later be distributed through the Cessna authorized network. It will be certified for the Cessna Citation 500/501, 550/551, S550, 560, and 650 aircraft.

The first successful flight of the retrofitted Citation V was made on April 6, 2009. “The AdViz Glass cockpit exceeded my expectations,” says Rick Trissell, Cessna Flight Test Pilot after a 1.5 hour flight. “The crisp symbology and clarity of the displays, along with additional navigation aids, will enhance situational awareness in flight.”

“The success of this flight is a great achievement,” says Chad Thorne, Vice President Business Development and Marketing of IS&S. “We are pleased to have the opportunity to work with Cessna Aircraft Company, and look forward to providing pilots and passengers with this state-of-the-art technology to improve the efficiency, reliability, and safety of flights.”
