UAL 232 Captain Will Keynote May 7 Event
The Greater Washington Business Aviation Association announced
Tuesday the group will host a well-known and much-lauded pilot
during its Safety Standdown next month.
Former UAL Captain Alfred C. Haynes will be the keynote speaker
at the May 7, 2009 Safety Standdown at the NTSB Training Academy in
The captain of United Airlines Flight 232, Haynes is one of the
most in-demand speakers today. It was twenty years ago that Captain
Haynes and his crew, against all odds, crash landed a United DC-10
in Sioux City, IA with no hydraulics.
Despite the fiery crash landing, 184 people survived the
