GAMA Announces 2009 Leadership

Six New Member Companies Added To Organization

The General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA) Board of Directors has elected Mark Van Tine of Jeppesen as chairman for 2009. Van Tine, Jeppesen's president and chief executive officer, previously served as GAMA’s vice chairman of the board and chairman of the International Affairs Committee.

Robert Wilson, president of Honeywell Business and General Aviation, was elected as GAMA's vice chairman of the board. He has served as chairman of the Technical Policy Committee for the past two years and will continue this role in 2009. In addition, the board elected Jim Ziegler, chief operating officer at Jet Aviation, as chairman of GAMA's International Affairs Committee.

GAMA's Board of Directors also approved six new companies for membership:

  • AmSafe, based in Phoenix, Arizona, is the world's largest supplier of pilot, crew and passenger restraints for the aviation market. In service since 2001, the AmSafe airbag system is currently standard equipment on nearly 80 percent of new general aviation aircraft worldwide.
  • General Aviation Modifications Incorporated (GAMI), headquartered in Ada, Oklahoma, designs and manufactures a wide variety of injectors and injector specifications. GAMI also holds supplemental type certificates and Federal Aviation Administration parts manufacturing authorization on over 300 different engine models.
  • ICE Corporation, based in Manhattan, Kansas, manufactures products ranging from ice protection systems to avionics systems and systems monitoring equipment. ICE secured its first contract in the aircraft industry in 1975 with a state-of-the-art deicer timer for a leading general aviation airplane manufacturer.
  • Kaman Corporation is headquartered in Bloomfield, Connecticut. Kaman's aerospace business is involved in the manufacturing of composite structures for general aviation airplanes as well as specialty bearings for flight controls, turbine engines and landing gear.
  • Max-Viz, based in Portland, Oregon, is a leading supplier of enhanced vision systems (EVS) which provide the ability to see and avoid weather and terrain during night flights. Max-Viz systems are certified on over 48 different turboprop, turbojet, piston, and rotary wing aircraft.
  • Standard Aero, headquartered in Tempe, Arizona specializes in engine maintenance, repair and overhaul, and nose-to-tail services that include airframe, interior refurbishments and paint for business and general aviation aircraft.

GAMA is an international trade association headquartered in Washington, DC representing over 60 of the world's leading manufacturers of general aviation aircraft, engines, avionics and related equipment. GAMA's members also operate fleets of aircraft, fixed based operations, and pilot training and maintenance training facilities.
