Military Airplanes In DNC Video Were Turkish, Not U.S.

Likely Stock Footage Of Turkish Stars Display Team F-5s

A flight of F-5s shown in a video presentation just before President Obama accepted his party's nomination at the Democratic National Convention is made up of Turkish aircraft ... not U.S. military planes.

The tip was given to The Navy Times, according to a report appearing on the online Daily Caller, and was confirmed by the editor of a military aviation journal in Austria. Martin Rosenkranz said the planes are "most likely from the Turkish air force." He said the evidence suggests they belong to the Turkish demonstration team the "Turkish Stars" based on the unique formation they fly.

They are also older model F-5 aircraft ... designed in the U.S. and sold worldwide, including to Turkey. Close examination of the photo montage which appeared on the giant screens of the Time Warner Cable arena in Charlotte, NC, revealed a distinctive paint job that can be seen in other videos of the Turkish Stars.

It wasn't the only military faux pas committed by the Democrats at their convention. The same video showed Soviet-era Russian ships in a giant stage backdrop.
