Gone West: Ray Siegfried II

GAMA Mourns Passing Of NORDAM Chairman

The General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA) reports the loss of "a leader and visionary within the aviation community," Ray Siegfried II, Chairman of the NORDAM Group.

"Ray Siegfried (right) made countless contributions to this industry and will remain an inspiration for years to come," said GAMA President and CEO Pete Bunce. "He was a true icon within the general aviation community and will be remembered for his unfailing devotion to, and leadership of our entire industry."

Siegfried began his career in aviation when he left the family insurance business in 1969 to take over then bankrupt NORDAM. Starting with only eight employees, Siegfried rebuilt the company into a leading manufacturer of engine nacelles, thrust reversers, hush kits, cabin interiors, and other aviation products.

Siegfried joined GAMA's Board of Directors in 1994. In addition to serving as the GAMA Chairman in 2002, he filled the role as Vice Chairman in 2001, and led the International Affairs Committee in 1999 and 2000. He was awarded the Association's Distinguished Service Award following his role as Chairman.
