Short-Notice TFR Results In Yet Another TFR 'Violation'

News reports indicate that a recent Florida TFR, issued barely 24 hours before the effective period of restriction, has been 'violated' by a small aircraft. An unspecified single engine aircraft, occupied by two people was "forced to land" Friday night. Secret Service agents interviewd the occupants of the aircraft at Opa Locka Airport, a GA reliever field just North of Miami.

President Bush was in the area for a fund raiser, (an event that was obviously more important than the rights of free Americans to travel where they choose), and reportedly left the area in Air Force One at approximately 1930, Friday night.

The FAA's Kathy Bergen was revealed that the FAA was, "investigating an alleged violation of the presidential temporary flight restriction that occurred this evening."

The NOTAM, #4/3532, was issued at 18:53 the day before the event, with an effective time of 19:40 - 23:50, Friday.

The NOTAM stated that "Aircraft flight operations are prohibited: within 30 NMR up to but not including FL180 of 254635N/0801616W or the DHP112004.5 from 0404231940 (1540 local 04/23/04) until 0404232350 (1950 local 04/23/04). Within 10 NMR up to but not including FL180 OF 254635N/0801616W or the DHP112004.5 FROM 0404231940 (1540 LOCAL 04/23/04) until 0404232350 (1950 LOCAL 04/23/04). Except as specified below and/or unless authorized by ATC: A. All aircraft operations within a 10 NMR area listed above are prohibited except for: 1. Law enforcement and military aircraft, directly supporting the United States Secret Service (USSS) and the office of the President Of The United States (POTUS), emergency medical flights, and regularly scheduled commercial passenger and cargo aircraft that meet or exceed the TSA S domestic security inspection program"
