WOOHOO! AOPA = 407-Pound Gorilla

Membership Sets New Record Of Over 407,000

In an interview with ANN's Jim Campbell for an upcoming Aero-Cast, Senior Vice President of Government and Technical Affairs Andy Cebula told Aero-News on the record what we only had on background before: membership of the preeminent pilots' organization has set a new record of, "over 407,000."

We expect to have more information on the membership milestone in the next day or two, and the interview with Cebula will be available here for listening shortly.

The size of AOPA is important, Cebula made clear, for two reasons. At least 12,000 of AOPA's members commented on the ADIZ, which illustrates the strength of the membership. And the 407,000 dues-paying members of AOPA is an important statistic which gives Cebula and other AOPA lobbyists entry into the halls of power in Washington.

To pilots today, as to patriots in Revolutionary times, Ben Franklin's aphorism at the signing of the Declaration of Independence applies: "We must all hang together, or assuredly we shall all hang separately."
