Aero-News Quote of the Day

"I don't want the warfighter fighting in this plane."

Source: Sen. Pat Roberts (R-KS), at an Appropriations Committee meeting on Thursday. There, he produced a badly corroded piece of KC-135 belly sheeting to show just how serious problems with the Air Force's aging tanker fleet have become. The committee is wrangling over whether to lease 100 Boeing 767s for $17 billion or purchase them outright for around $2 billion less. While Congress quibbles, the tanker fleet falls further into disrepair.
