Pilot 'Interviewed' By Fake FAA Investigator Following Accident

Pilot's Mother, A Passenger In The Airplane, Was Fatally Injured

The pilot of a Mooney M20L which went down July 30 in a parking lot in Kearney Mesa, CA was reportedly interviewed by a person claiming to be from the FAA in her hospital room several days after the accident.

Television station KNSD in San Diego reports that the pilot, 52-year-old Devon Logan, was visited in the hospital by a person who said he worked for the FAA. It was only when an actual FAA representative came to the hospital that the ruse was uncovered.

Logan's plane went down in a shopping center parking lot July 30, resulting in the fatal injury of 78-year-old Joy Gorian, Logan's mother.

A family member said they do not blame the hospital for allowing the incident in the room to occur, but are understandably upset that someone would do such a thing after a fatal accident.

The FAA said that its security division is aware of the incident.
