uAvionix Receives Patent for tailBeaconX Transponder

tailBeaconX Received TSO Authorization From The FAA Earlier This Year

uAvionix has been granted a new patent enabling safety and surveillance benefits with the use of space-based ADS-B for General Aviation (GA).

U.S. Patent 11,011,830 titled “Wireless Communication System within an External Enclosure for Attachment to a Vehicle” provides the ability to leverage the wing and tail locations of an aircraft for the installation of a transponder to gain optimal performance from both ground and space-based infrastructure.

tailBeaconX is Aireon Compatible and designed as a globally compliant, easily installed ADS-B OUT solution for General Aviation (GA) and Urban Air Mobility (UAM), meeting current and future 1090MHz ADS-B mandates. Specifically built to offer maximum compatibility with both ground and space-based ADS-B receivers used by over 18 Air Navigation Services Providers (ANSP) world-wide, tailBeaconX was extensively tested with Aireon and Nav Canada. Significantly increased performance levels were observed over traditional bottom-mount antenna installations, including at lower altitudes and during surface movements.

tailBeaconX has revolutionized the transponder to support current and next-generation aircraft by making installations more flexible, affordable, and reliable. tailBeaconX received TSO authorization from the FAA this year, with preorders now being accepted pending STC approval this summer.
