Fund Established To Help Recover Pilot's Remains

Bill Fitzpatrick Was Fatally Injured In An Accident In Cameroon

Friends of the family of pilot Bill Fitzpatrick, who was fatally injured when his Cessna 172 went down in the jungle of Cameroon, Africa, have established a fund to help his widow pay the costs of returning his remains to the United States.

In an email sent to ANN, Les and Kathy Peterson said that "Bill had a remarkable career as a National Park Service pilot and as a volunteer for the African National Parks, serving as the pilot for anti-poaching efforts. We have set up a fundraiser for Paula Fitzpatrick to help her bring Bill home which will provide closure for her and their three children.

"The US State department has informed her that the cost will be approximately $9,000."

Contributions to the fund can be made through the website giveforward.com.

"Paula is going to need help now as she navigates the challenges of raising three, growing children and providing final closure for herself and her family by bringing Bill home. After speaking with Paula, she, with great humility has accepted our offer to communicate the need for assistance" the Petersons said. "She feels fortunate to have three healthy children and an immeasurable amount of love and support from friends and family."
