EHang Opens Air Mobility Center

Guangzhou Location Opens the Company's "100 Air Mobility Routes" Initiative

Chinese Advance Aerial Mobility manufacturer EHang has announced the newest addition of its "Intelligent Air Mobility Experience Center" in Guangzhou, China.

The facility is hoped to serve as an introduction to the concept of sustainable, electric eVTOL systems in a city entirely dependent upon ground transport. If the spot can build a name as a flagship location for the aerial mobility concept, it could go a long way in acquainting the somewhat traditionalist Chinese culture with their city runabouts.

The Experience Center is hoped to be the first of a series of locations that sport all the necessary architecture and infrastructure for use of EHang AAV's under their 100 Air Mobility Routes program. Guangzhou makes for an excellent start, being a hub of manufacturing and economic activity. The location includes 5G networking over an area of 2,000 square meters, equipped with a rooftop take-off and landing vertiport as well as hangars for charging and maintenance. EHang says the networking support is vital for their aircraft's command-and-control systems, with the added bonus of providing automated guided parking on premises. The eventual goal, it seems, would be the door-to-door automation of passengers hailing unmanned automobiles to drop them off just in time for an automated flight.

EHang Chairman, Huazhi Hu, said the project is a great start. “Guangzhou is EHang’s first global urban air mobility pilot city and the 5G Intelligent Air Mobility Experience Center has become the latest operation spot under the 100 Air Mobility Routes Initiative. We will use the world’s leading AAV technologies and command-and-control system to provide intelligent, comprehensive solutions for urban air mobility and smart city management in Guangzhou. We expect to build Guangzhou into a model city for UAM and have plans to extend it to more cities across the country and worldwide.”
