Workers At JETEEZY Say They Haven't Been Paid In Months

Company Moved To Florida 18 Months Ago

Workers at JETEEZY, an aircraft manufacturer based in Sanford, FL, say the company is months behind on payroll, and some have stopped showing up for work

Television station WFTV reports that one worker, 25-year-old Andrew Jacobs, a former Marine, said the company has not paid him since May 24, and currently owes him some $5,000. He told the station he stopped showing up for work two weeks ago.

Another, 60-year-old Michael Turco said he quit working for the company in May, but is still owed $750.

JETEEZY moved from Asia and opened its doors in Sanford 18 months ago, and was approved by city, county and state leaders to receive $100,000 in tax incentives if it met certain employment benchmarks. Those included hiring 50 workers at an average salary of $61,000 per year and investing $5.5 million in building improvements.

The incentives were never delivered to the company, according to a Florida economic development spokesperson. "Under Gov. Scott’s leadership, DEO has reformed the incentive process, requiring companies to meet strict performance metrics, including total jobs and capital investment, before receiving any payments,” the spokesman said.

The company did not respond to a request for comments from the station.
