Airborne 12.19.18: AMA's New Boss!, LIFT Multirotor, Polish AF R44s

Also: Gone West-Bill Cutter, uAvionix' “HQ2”, Catalina Island Repairs, First ANA A380

First of all, with the first phase of training under her belt, we want to welcome Skylar Vanel to the 'hot seat' as she debuts as a new host for Airborne! She's worked hard to get here and we're excited for the future.

AMA has named Chad Budreau as its new Executive Director. Budreau has held this position on an interim basis since April 2018, and previously served as AMA’s Public Relations and Government Affairs Director. “With Chad’s extensive experience in model aviation and deep understanding of AMA’s mission, he is undoubtedly the best person to lead our beloved hobby. I look forward to continue working with Chad to preserve and protect this important hobby for future generations to come,” said Rich Hanson, President of AMA. Matt Chasen, founder of uShip, has unveiled a new venture called LIFT Aircraft. LIFT has developed an electric, vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft and plans to open up LIFT locations where anyone will be able to rent aircraft and experience an entirely new kind of flying - pilot's license not required. Robinson Helicopter Company delivered two R44 Raven IIs to longtime Robinson dealer, PHU Polinar of Poland. On November 13th, PHU Polinar delivered the aircraft to the Polish Air Force University, marking the first acquisition of American helicopters to be used for military training in Poland. Founded in 1927, the Polish Air Force University is an accredited state-owned institution that offers undergraduate degrees for officers in the Polish military as well as commercial ratings for civilian students. All this -- and MORE in today's episode of Airborne!!!
