American Youth Can Explore Aviation Careers At AeroCamp

Programs Held Coast-To-Coast Over The Summer

Coast-to-coast, for the fifth year in a row, youths between the ages of 12-18 will be heading to their local AeroCamps for the chance to explore aviation and aerospace this summer. AeroCamp is a day camp program hosted by members of the Flight School Association of North America (FSANA).

AeroCamp is one of several aero programs established by the Flight School Association of North America to engage the general public in the aero/aviation experience. Established in 2009, FSANA is the first and only association of its kind dedicated solely to the flight training industry.

The feedback over the past few years has been an overwhelming thumbs up from the campers and host flight schools. Many schools are also offering advanced AeroCamp programs over the summer geared to returning AeroCampers or youth with previous aviation knowledge; other schools now offer AeroCamp year round.

AeroCampers can look forward to a schedule that includes classes and activities like:

  • Learning what makes an airplane fly
  • Understanding aircraft flight controls and instruments
  • Learning radio communication basics
  • Learning about airport traffic patterns
  • Reading aeronautical charts
  • Flying an airplane and logging flight time
  • Visiting aviation- and aerospace-related facilities and businesses

A favorite highlight of campers is visits to nearby aviation-related facilities that can include airport facilities, aircraft maintenance and repair firms, and air traffic control towers.

FSANA represents flight schools, firms that provide products and services to the flight training or aviation industry, and other supporting partners. Major funding for AeroCamp and FSANA's other aero programs is provided by Aircraft Spruce and Specialty Co., Pilotshop.com, My Flight Train, TailWheels Etc, Thomas Edison State College and Phoenix Aviation Managers.
