In this short video Rand Volmer, the Pipistrel Dealer for the Southern and Eastern U.S. has something to show us that you have probably never seen before. The Pipistrel Sinus Flex is a distinctive airplane that it can be flown as a motorglider in the long wing version or as a light sport aircraft in the short wing version. The unique part of this equation is that the two versions are in a single airplane.
This airplane has wing extensions that can be added or removed at will. The long wing version of the airplane is great as a motorglider but it’s hard to fit in your average hangar. Volmer demonstrates how the wing change is accomplished. It only takes one tool and less than five minutes to do the job. This video gives us a perfect example of high-end technology showing up in the light sport aircraft marketplace. Take a look; you’ll be impressed.
