AirCell Announces Next-generation Handsets For ST 3100 Satcoms

Feature Color Displays, Active Noise Cancellation

At last week's AEA Conference, AirCell announced a series of all-new, next-generation handsets for its popular ST 3100 satcom system. Available this summer, the new handset family offers a host of new, user-friendly features not found with previous airborne telecommunication systems.

"A phone system’s handset is the user’s link to the outside world," commented Jack Blumenstein, AirCell Chairman & CEO. "With these new handsets, operators have the chance to make a huge difference in their airborne communications -- for very little money -- with a very simple upgrade."

"Since we’ve designed them to be drop-in replacements, operators that wish to upgrade can do so in less than 5 minutes," Blumenstein added.

  • Summary of Key Features for New ST 3100 Handsets:
  • Full color display with intuitive, graphical menus
  • Active noise cancelling for clear, quiet calling
  • Integrated headset/earbud jack
  • An internal phone book for number storage and speed-dialing
  • A number of user-customizable settings
  • The new handsets are a direct, plug-in replacement for existing ST 3100 handsets

Scheduled for certification and first shipments this summer, the new handsets will be available in three colors (Midnight Black, Stone Gray and Natural Beige) and four styles (ranging from permanent cradles to modular plugs) to tastefully and efficiently suit any cabin application. Retail pricing and upgrade programs will be announced at a later date.

The AirCell ST 3100 system is standard or optional equipment on nearly two dozen OEM aircraft programs worldwide. It operates on the Iridium Satellite System, providing pilots and passengers all-altitude, all-latitude coverage throughout the world.
