Louisiana State Police Add more Bell 407s to the Fleet

More Aircraft Join the Public Safety Mission in The Pelican State

Bell Textron has shuffled off a pair of brand new Bell 407GXis to the Louisiana State Police department, expanding their fleet for improved services throughout the Bayou.

The 407 remains a very popular offering in the Bell lineup, striking a healthy balance between affordable, reliable operation and performance. It comes stock with glass panel avionics and seating for 6 passengers, with speeds up to 133 knots and a 337-nm range. Thats a lot of 'function' with some attractive 'form', and the Louisiana State Police appear to agree.

Their Air Support Unit will use the new aircraft in the course of their public safety ops already undertaken by their existing Bell 407GXP, Bell 430s, and Bell 206s of various vintage. The team has them all outfitted for patrol, surveillance, and SAR missions, too. All are NVG compatible, FLIR equipped, and chock full of searchlights. The 407 can carry external loads, with a nicely expansive cockpit that ensures some impressive peripheral vision for the pilots up front.

“Bell is honored that the Louisiana State Police have chosen the Bell 407GXi to expand their public safety mission capabilities,” said Lane Evans, managing director, North America. “With its upgraded avionics and customizable cabin space, the Bell 407GXi continues to advance public safety agencies throughout the world.”
