An All LED Replacement For The Standard GE4509
SunSpot Landing/Recognition lights are now available with a
narrow beam lens. SunSpot, was designed as a "drop in" replacement
for the existing PAR 36 lighting applications. The lighter weight
SunSpot eliminates radiant heat and projects more lumens than a
100W halogen light. The SunSpot has built-in circuitry to allow for
fully operational recognition "Wig/Wag" flashing lights that are
used to increase aircraft visibility and safety during all phases
of flight. Additionally, the SunSpot uses 1/3 the power of a 100W
GE4509 halogen landing light and constant operation of the lights
will not pull excessive power from the electrical system.
Eliminating the maintenance costs and excessive heat generated
by halogen bulbs, while benefiting from the increased safety of
continuous recognition mode operation in all phases of flight,
makes the decision to upgrade to the SunSpot even easier.
Additionally, AeroLEDs offers a 10-year manufactures warranty which
is twice that of the HID lighting systems available.
The light pattern generated by the narrow beam Sunspot compares
favorably with a GE4509, but is slightly wider to provide better
visibility of the runway on short final and during flare. The
cooler white light generated by LEDs provides better color
rendition and illuminates green grass better than the yellow light
produced by halogen bulbs.
SunSpot with a narrow beam can be installed as a single unit or
in pairs with the wide beam SunSpot in the nose gear, cowling or
wingtips and all configurations enable the Wig-Wag feature of the
lights, offering an effective anti-collision system that does not
shorten the service life of the lights. The chassis mount version
drops into existing GE4509 clamp mounts. SunSpot is rated for
50,000 hours of operation, up to 16 times the life of competing
technologies. A single SunSpot with a wide or narrow beam retails
for $495.95.
