FAA Administrator Michael Huerta To Speak At ABACE2014

Show Held In Shanghai, China Next Month

The NBAA announced Thursday that FAA Administrator Michael Huerta will serve as a keynote speaker at NBAA’s Asian Business Aviation Conference & Exhibition (ABACE), which takes place in Shanghai, China, from April 15 to 17, 2014. Huerta will address attendees during the Opening General Session on April 15.

“NBAA is honored to include Administrator Huerta among the top leaders from government and industry who are a part of our ABACE events each year,” said NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen. “Administrator Huerta’s insights and observations on a variety of topics will certainly be of interest to the attendees.”

Huerta, who is responsible for administering the largest aerospace system in the world, oversees the FAA’s multi-billion dollar NextGen air traffic control modernization program as the United States shifts from ground-based radar to state-of-the-art satellite technology.

Before his confirmation as FAA administrator on Jan. 1, 2013, Huerta served as deputy administrator of the agency. Prior to joining the FAA, Huerta held senior positions at Affiliated Computer Services from 2002 to 2009, and served as the executive director of the Port of San Francisco from 1989 to 1993, and as commissioner of New York City's Department of Ports, International Trade and Commerce from 1986 to 1989.

An experienced transportation official, Huerta is known for managing complex transportation challenges, such as the 2002 Winter Olympic Games in Salt Lake City, which often have a global reach.

ABACE is produced through a partnership between the Shanghai Airport Authority and NBAA, and co-hosted by NBAA, the Asian Business Aviation Association (AsBAA) and the Shanghai Exhibition Center (SEC). The event features an expansive exhibit floor at the Shanghai Hawker Pacific Business Aviation Center, and a static display of aircraft at nearby Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport.

ABACE 2014 is expected to feature more than 150 exhibitors showcasing the latest airplanes, helicopters, aviation equipment and services. Numerous educational sessions will address a variety of topics about the operation of business aircraft and the industry’s latest developments.
