Sanborn Wins On-Call Unmanned Aircraft Services Multi-Year Contract

Will Work With El Paso County, CO For Five Years Under The Agreement

The Sanborn Map Company has secured a multi-year contract with El Paso County, Colorado, that allows departments and municipalities within the County to negotiate task orders with Sanborn during the next five years.

The contract gives the County the ability to procure Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) Services and products from Sanborn as they require. Use case examples include construction site progression; disaster and emergency response; inspections for roofs; mapping of parks, open space and trails, highways and bridges.

All work will be completed under Federal Aviation Administration appropriate approvals for platform and operator requirements. Sanborn will conduct any work on this contract in compliance with all applicable federal, state and local regulations regarding the use of UAS and observe all privacy laws.

Sanborn has already successfully completed several commercial UAS data collection projects, as well as numerous test flights to validate the system’s geospatial data collection capabilities. The efforts have resulted in unprecedented data accuracy and resolution. The UAS facilitates a broad portfolio of services that include engineering-grade digital terrain models exceeding 2-inch accuracy; multispectral imagery at sub-centimeter resolution; vibration-free video; high-resolution light detection and ranging (LiDAR) data; and thermal imaging data.

In addition to providing UAS flight services, Sanborn offers a full range of professional image processing and analysis services for all UAS data collected. As with all Sanborn offerings, the firm’s UAS data is available as a licensed product within the firm’s cloud service, allowing customers to cost-effectively store and securely access their data around the clock. Customers also can purchase and host the data on their own servers if desired.
