FSDO have again hit the news as Part 135 operator has refuted FAA
statements and a Press Release released after the
FAA supended the operating certificate of Darby
Aviation. The statement was compiled and released to
the media by Attorney Deanna L. Weidner of Anderson &
Hawker Beechcraft Services (HBS) celebrated the grand opening of
its expanded and enhanced aircraft maintenance facility at
Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport (IWA) in Mesa, AZ on Thursday. HBS
recently completed the final phase of a $14 million project.
The first of a new fleet of HC-130J combat rescue tankers for
the U.S. Air Force's Air Combat Command (ACC) was unveiled by

A C-17 Globemaster III loaded new Army light utility helicopters
for delivery to the warfighters April 12 at Columbus AFB in
Mississippi. It marked the first time UH-72 helicopters were
transferred directly overseas via Air Force transport.
FAA Looking For "Objectivity" In Evaluating Staffing Needs
The FAA has awarded a contract to Quintiq for Air Traffic
Control employee scheduling with the integrated Quintiq Workforce
Planning Solution. The Quintiq software will provide an objective
method for evaluating staffing required for safe and efficient
operations at the FAA's Air Traffic Control facilities.
When used in conjunction with altitude assignments, means that
ATC has offered the pilot the option of starting climb or descent
whenever he/she wishes and conducting the climb or descent at any
rate he/she wishes. He/she may temporarily level off at any
intermediate altitude. However, once he/she has vacated an
altitude, he/she may not return to that altitude.
