Appareo Can Provide An Eye In The Sky For Critical Air Ops
While at the 2013 NBAA conference, ANN CEO and Editor-In-Chief, Jim Campbell met with Derek Aslakson, the program manager for Appareo Systems. Appaero has developed a system that records aircraft performance data and crew performance at the same time. It consists of a data recorder and a video camera mounted in the cockpit.
Aslakson said the systems are being widely used in the air medical transport industry and in flight training. In some respects, it is a “spy in the sky” that reports on crew operation of the aircraft as well as aircraft performance. However, when used in a productive manner, it can provide valuable information to improve safety and target areas where specific training is needed. Flight instructors have found it useful when performing post flight briefings of a training session. This video shows the system in operation and provides insight about the simple installation process. It’s an information tool that can serve many purposes.
