Rolls-Royce Earns 787 VIP Engine Order

Trent 1000 Will Power Real Estate Tycoon's Special Jet

Aero-News has learned the Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 has been selected by Hong Kong real estate tycoon Joseph Lau, to power his Boeing 787-8 VIP aircraft on order from Boeing Business Jets.

This agreement makes Lau the launch customer for the Trent-powered 787 VIP in Asia, and is the second time the Trent 1000 has been selected for a 787 configured for corporate or VIP use.

"From our experience as the leading engine supplier in the corporate jet sector, we understand the needs of VIP operators," said Mark King, Chief Commercial Officer - Civil Large Engines for Rolls-Royce. "Our customers are now ranking the environmental credentials of an engine alongside exceptional reliability and low cost of ownership, making the Trent 1000 the best fit for corporate and VIP operations, and we are delighted that Mr Lau has recognised this with his engine selection."

As the launch engine for the 787, the Trent 1000 will be installed on the first aircraft that will roll out of the Boeing factory this Sunday, July 8.
