Airborne 02.09.17: Lightspeed Zulu 3, Red Bull Air Races, Faux Space Capsule

Also: Diamond Trainers, AUVSI’s ‘Airborne-Unmanned’, Drone-Powered $$$, Spirit Pilots, ALTO Aviation, GoPro, AvTaxes

Lightspeed Aviation has launched their Zulu 3 ANR headset. The Zulu 3 builds on the performance and features that made the original Zulu and Zulu 2 popular choices for private and professional pilots worldwide.

The Zulu 3 will be backed by 7-year warranty and sells for $850. Abu Dhabi plays host to the Red Bull Air Race for the 10th time in 2017, with racing set for this weekend It will once again set the scene as the action-packed season opener for a brand new World Championship. The race, which is the 75th of the sport's history, will take place over the Arabian Gulf's stunning blue waters and fans will be able to witness all the action from the purpose-built race village on the Corniche breakwater. In the ‘stranger than reality’ department comes this spacy story... It was certainly not what motorists expected to see while driving along Interstate 10 outside Casa Grande, AZ. What looked like a space capsule, complete with an American Flag and the words "United States" stenciled on the side, caused a number of people to contact the authorities -- believing an errant spacecraft had come down in the desert. But it turned out to be a piece of art created by artist Jack Millard -- out of a drum from a cement truck! All this -- and MORE in today's episode of Airborne!!!
