Baggage Handlers At Logan Charged

State Police Say They Recovered Cash, Computers, Other Items

Massachusetts State Police say that they have charged two baggage handlers at Logan International Airport with theft of items ranging from cash to computers. (State Police Photo)

The Boston Globe reports that arrests of Lashawn Fontenot and Joshua Wright, both 25 years old, stemmed from a month-long investigation at the airport. They were arrested February 28th at the airport.

Police say the items allegedly stolen from passengers' baggage range from cash and tobacco to cameras, computers, and other expensive electronic items. They say Wright was in possession of stolen property at the time of his arrest, and other stolen items were found at each of the men's homes. The two worked for a company with a contract to handle baggage at the airport, which cooperated in the investigation.

Fontenot and Wright were arraigned in East Boston District Court on charges of larceny over $250. Their access to the airport has been revoked by Massport. Both were released on their own recognizance. The state police say they are attempting to return the stolen items to their owners.
