Continental Motors Powers Ahead With Innovation

Full Line Of Diesel Engines And Flight Training

Continental Motors, a subsidiary of AVIC International Holding Corporation of Beijing, China announced on Tuesday that it has expanded its investment in advanced diesel engine technology for the general aviation market. The turbo diesel series will incorporate three models initially. TD220 (160-180 HP range); TD300 (200-250 HP range) and TD450 (300-350 HP range). The TD300 enters production early in 2013. The TD450 will be in production the first quarter of 2015 and the TD220 will follow after in the 2016/2017 timeframe.

Mr. Rhett Ross (CEO & President) also provides some clarity on their Alternative Gasoline Fuels. He said that Continental is fuel agnostic and will let the FAA, fuel providers and customer drive the solution. Continental will adjust their engines to those fuels. As an initial step; they will work on the lower horsepower engines in their line (less than 200 HP); and determine what they will need to do to operate with UL91 (100LL without the lead).

Continental Motors also announce the creation of a subsidiary to provide new flight training called Zulu Flight Training, Inc. Zulu is a new concept in pilot training that is designed around a structured curriculum that uses full motion aviation training devices from Redbird Flight Simulations. Instructors will be full time salaried employees. Students will master the skills in the simulators first and then show proficiency in the aircraft.  Initial training location will be Spanish Fort, AL.

Finally, AVIC announced an exclusive arrangement with Redbird Flight Simulations of Austin, TX that AVIC will be the sole distributor of Redbird Flight Simulation products throughout China.
