When the CGS Hawk came on the sport aviation scene over 40 years ago, it literally transformed what was then the nascent ultralight industry. And over the years, the Hawk has grown from a single seat ultralight into a variety of two-seat sport, experimental, and light sport aircraft with a dizzying variety of configurations – with one mission in mind - seriously fun flying.
Under new ownership, CGS owner Joe Shirley is cognizant of the legacy that he has been entrusted with, and is looking forward to not only continuing it, but improving upon it. In addition to a tundra configuration and a number of other ideas for the future, Job One right now is building up a proper production capability, and making the airplane easier to manufacture so that he can get airplanes into pilot’s hands ASAP.
Rugged, simple to build, affordable, and utterly conventional in the way it flies, the CGS Hawk seems to have a brighter future than ever before.
