Indiana Shriners Cancel Air Shows

Event In 2015 Was To Have Featured The Blue Angels

It appears that the Blue Angels will have an opening on their schedule next year as the Evansville, IN ShrinersFest has pulled the plug on its air show.

In fact, the organizers of the event have determined that there will no longer be an air show associated with the event.

The Navy's jet demonstration team was scheduled to perform at the 2015 ShrinersFest, according to WFIE-TV in Evansville, but officials said that a challenging economy over the past three years and the rising costs associated with putting on an air show forced them to make the decision to cancel. Organizers said that the cost of putting on an air show that included the Blue Angels had grown to around $170,000 ... and they were unsure they could raise that kind of money.

The Shriners said it was important that they keep their admission price at five dollars, and they would have to charge closer to $20 to be able to afford the Blue Angels.

The jet team has reportedly not performed in the southern Indiana town for more than a decade.
