Applicability:
Model SR20 and SR22 aeroplanes with serial numbers as follows:
Model SR20 SR22 Serial Numbers 1005 through 1581 inclusive 0002
through 1643 and 1645 through 1662
Requirement:
- Inspect the fuel line and wire harness for any chafing damage
in accordance with Cirrus Design Corporation Service Bulletin SB
2X-28-04 R1, Issued:November 2005, Revised: 14 November 2005.
- If, as a result of the Requirement 1 inspection, any chafing
damage is found carry
out the following in accordance with SB 2X-28-04 R1:
a. Replace any damaged fuel line; and
b. Repair any damaged wires or sheathing of the wire harness.
- Install the following in accordance with SB 2X-28-04 R1:
a. Forward loop clamp,
b. Fuel line shield,
c. Aft loop clamp, and
d. Anti-chafe tubing.
Later revisions of the above SB, approved by the United States
Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as an Alternate Method of
Compliance (AMOC) to FAA AD 2006-07-06, are considered acceptable
for compliance with the equivalent Requirements of this
Directive.

Compliance:
For Requirement 1 - Within the next 50 hours time-in-service (TIS)
after the effective date of this Directive.
For Requirement 2 - Before further flight after the Requirement
1 inspection.
For Requirement 3 - Within the next 50 hours TIS after the
effective date of this
Directive.
This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 11 May
2006.
Background: The United States Federal Aviation
Administration (FAA) has received reports of fuel line leaks
resulting from wire chafing on the fuel lines. This failure could
lead to unsafe fuel vapour within the cockpit and possible fire.
The actions specified in this Directive are intended to detect,
correct and prevent damage to the fuel line and wire bundles, which
could result in fuel leaks.
