New Aviation Chief Named In New Mexico

Former Los Alamos Airport Manager Tapped For Top Spot

New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson has named David C. Ploeger to head the New Mexico DOT Aviation Division. The announcement came in a news release from the governor's office Thursday.

Ploeger succeeds Thomas Baca, who is retiring after five years as the Aviation Division chief. He was most recently the manager at Los Alamos Airport. During his tenure, the airport won honors as New Mexico Airport of the Year in 2005.

Prior to coming to New Mexico, Ploeger managed the Dinwiddie County Airport in Petersburg, VA.

Transportation Commission Chairman Johnny Cope said “With more than 11 years of experience managing airports in both New Mexico and Virginia, this commission has full confidence in Ploeger’s ability to lead the department’s Aviation Division.”
