Intelligent Automation Corporation HUMS Makes First Flight On SOAR Helo

Health And Usage Monitoring System Installed On MH-47G Chinook

Intelligent Automation Corporation (IAC), developers of Health and Usage Monitoring Systems (HUMS) for aircraft, tells ANN the company successfully completed its first installation and test flight on the US Army 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment’s (160th SOAR) MH-47G Chinook helicopter. IAC is under contract to provide advanced diagnostic systems for the 160th SOAR MH-47G, MH-60K, and MH-6J "Little Bird" helicopters.

The 160th SOAR is the most sophisticated and demanding aviation unit in the world with over 150 state-of-the-art M-6, AH-6, MH-60 and MH-47 aircraft. IAC is uniquely qualified to provide the 160th SOAR with technologically advanced HUMS and diagnostic solutions. The 160th’s highly specialized and demanding mission requires a highly sophisticated, easy-to-use HUMS system with a demonstrated track record of performance in order to meet their stringent requirements.

"IAC is providing combat proven HUMS and Portable Rotor Track and Balance systems to the 160th SOAR," said IAC Chief Executive Officer Jeff Goodrich. "They are a sophisticated customer that helps push the technology envelope to meet their mission. The advanced systems developed and fielded by the 160th SOAR are increasingly transitioned into the regular Army and other DOD helicopters. This represents a market potential of well over 3000 helicopters. These systems significantly reduce helicopter operating costs while improving readiness and safely."

To date, IAC has delivered 10 IAC 1209 – Modern Signal Processing Unit (MSPU) systems for the MH-47G, two IAC-1087 Portable Rotor Track and Balance systems for the MH-6J and five IAC-1030 Vibration Management Enhancement Program (VMEP) systems for the MH-60K aircraft. IAC is also under contract to integrate the IAC-1209 MSPU systems with the 160th SOAR Common Avionics Architecture System (CAAS).

The US Army has issued Modification Work Order (MWO 1-1520-251-50-05) for the IAC 1209 MSPU - HUMS approving the system for installation on all 750 US Army AH-64 Apache Attack Helicopters. With over 180 IAC HUMS systems already installed on US Army H-60 (Blackhawk), H-47 (Chinook) and AH-64 Apache helicopters, this order confirms IAC as the number one US Army HUMS supplier.
