ANN CEO and Editor-In-Chief, Jim Campbell was making his rounds at Aircraft Electronics Association’s (AEA) 2014 regional convention and stopped at the Garmin display to ask about “all the cool toys.” Jim wanted to know what’s happening and where it’s going.
Joe Stewart, Garmin’s Regional Sales Manager said that this year is all about ADS-B and meeting the mandate for 2020. The first thing we see on the video are examples of the ADS-B capable transceiver and transponders. He then brings up a new system called Flight Stream that can display the ADS-B information onto an iPad.
But there’s more than just ADS-B on the table. As the video continues, Stewart talks about other Garmin products and their design philosophy of interactivity and simplicity of operation. The video includes brief demonstrations of how this connectivity makes it easier for pilots to flight plan and share information with portable devices. The G in Garmin stands for “Guerrilla” and this video provides a quick look at their product line.
