We are pleased to report the elimination of a particularly onerous bit of FAA decision-making... by virtue of an act of Congress. H.R. 7776, the “James M. Inhofe National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2023”  -- which was passed by both the House and Senate and signed into law by the President just before year's end.

The FAA policy, established in July 2021, required certain aircraft owners and flight instructors to obtain a letter of deviation authority (LODA) prior to providing flight training in experimental aircraft—including the owners of homebuilt aircraft seeking training in their own machines. Tickets are now on sale for the 70th year of EAA AirVenture, the yearly home to the Experimental Aircraft Association’s gathering at Wittman Regional Airport in Oshkosh, WI. Oshkosh is home to what's likely the biggest grouping of GA aircraft in the entire world, with more than half a million attendees and 10,000 individual aircraft making the  pilgrimage. DarkAero is the embodiment of a shared aspiration to develop a kit aircraft of surpassing speed, range, and efficiency. The brothers Ryley, River, and Keegan Karl, have plied their considerable expertise and energies with the DarkAero-1 -- a single-reciprocating-engine, low-wing, retractable-tricycle-undercarriage, normal category airplane.
