Tamarack Aerospace Thriving

Excellent Product + Comprehensive Service = Success

Tamarack Aerospace Group announced that for the first time in its history, the company is working contemporaneously on four Cessna CitationJets, retrofitting the aircraft with its proprietary SMARTWING Active Winglet load-alleviating system.

The installations are being performed at Tamarack’s Sandpoint headquarters; Air1st Aviation Companies of Aiken, South Carolina; Prince Aviation of Belgrade, Serbia; and Fort Lauderdale’s Banyan Aviation.

Tamarack reports the number of new SMARTWING sales to repeat customers is on the rise. Savvy buyers are attracted with increasing repetition to the significant increases in aircraft performance and efficiency and commensurate reductions in fuel-expenditures and overall operating costs occasioned by installation of the SMARTWING system. Under optimum conditions, CitationJet operators—in addition to performance and stability improvements—are apt to realize reductions in fuel-burn of up to 33-percent.

Tamarack’s sales director Eric Cunningham states the quartet of simultaneous SMARTWING installations indicates growing customer confidence in Tamarack’s technology, as does the fact that approximately one-tenth of all in-service CitationJets—more than 190 aircraft—have been retrofitted, to date, with Tamarack’s SMARTWING system.

Mr. Cunningham states: “We can install our SMARTWING technology on a CitationJet in less than a week, and that efficiency is helping a lot with increased new customer and repeat customer demand.”

Tamarack Chief Operations Officer Danny Hiner, too, reports a marked increase in international SMARTWING installations, most recently in Serbia and Germany. Mr. Hiner remarked: “Tamarack installations are very efficient. We are able to work with multiple organizations in multiple cities/countries/continents and form great relationships over the years. We carefully vet each of the organizations we have partnered with, getting to know each of our counterparts in their respective positions and then sharing, educating, and face-to-face training on everything we have learned. Building these relationships allows our partners to trust that they can pick up the phone, schedule a teams call, share photos or messages via text or email, no matter what time of day or time zone we are each in, and get any help they need almost immediately. These people are more than just organizational business associates; they are trusted partners and friends who believe in Tamarack and treat our customers like we do. Our customers benefit, and many keep coming back for installations on their next aircraft.”

Currently, Tamarack operates four Transformation Centers and twenty service centers.

Friedrich “Fritz” Karl of Munch, Germany-based Karl Aviation, has had three of his company’s Part 91 CitationJets upgraded with SMARTWING systems, and is actively seeking additional aircraft for purchase and upgrade. In service of its European and international charter enterprise, Karl Aviation operates a CJ, a CJ-1, and a CJ-3.

Mr. Karl sets forth: “We fly trips to Italy, and the ability to get higher quicker with the Tamarack upgrade going over the Alps and handling shorter runways are very big safety (advantages). The structure stress reduction and smoother ride are so important too.”

Differing from conventional, passive winglets, Tamarack’s Performance SMARTWING technology automatically controls wing bending during turbulence and other inflight events by effectively “turning off the winglets”—thereby alleviating wing-loading. This is accomplished via load-sensors and a camber surface capable of responding to system inputs in fractions of a second. The Active Winglet/load-alleviation system is fully automatic, requires no pilot action, and functions independently of other aircraft systems. What’s more, installation of Tamarack’s Performance SMARTWING requires no aircraft structural reinforcement.
