New Home May Be In The Future For Planes Of Fame Museum

Lincoln, CA City Council Authorizes Negotiations

The Planes of Fame Museum may be moving from Chino to Lincoln, CA in the not-too-distant future.

The Lincoln City Council gave its city manager, Matt Brower, the authority to begin talking with museum officials about the possibility of a move back in October, according to the Lincoln News Messenger newspaper.

Shawn Tillman, the city’s economic development manager, said that there are four potential locations for the museum at the Lincoln Regional Airport/Karl Harder Field (KLHM): "the southwest corner near Aviation Boulevard and Nicolaus Road; the west side; the existing corporation yard facility and the existing ramp space." He said that one of the town's priorities is to increase use of the airport, and the museum would be "a unique tourist destination." He also mentioned the multiple fly-ins and annual airshow hosted by the museum, which included both airworthy and static display aircraft.

City officials are weighing whether it would be better to sell or lease property to the museum.

Planes of Fame Museum owner Steve Hinton told the paper that Lincoln Regional Airport has "a lot of potential" as a new home for the museum. "We're ready to work on it," he said.
