Allegiant Flight Dispatchers Opt To Join Teamsters

Vote Was 25-4 To Become Part Of The Union

By a margin of 25 to 4, flight dispatchers at Allegiant Air voted to join the International Brotherhood of Teamsters in a vote count announced by the National Mediation Board. There are 34 members in the bargaining unit.

“On behalf of everyone in the Airline Division, and all of our members, I would like to welcome this group of workers to the Teamsters,” said Capt. David Bourne, Director of the Teamsters Airline Division. “We’ve had a number of strong victories at Allegiant Air recently and we’re proud of the work we’ve done to raise standards for Allegiant pilots. We look forward to representing these dispatchers and getting them an industry-leading agreement.”

The employees were members of the union until 2015 when a management-driven, anti-union decertification vote occurred. The dispatchers came back seeing strong representation. The workers join Teamsters Local 986 in South El Monte, Calif.

Teamster Allegiant pilots ratified their first union contract with the airline on July 28, 2016. It provided substantial improvements in compensation, benefits and scheduling. Pilots immediately received up to 31 percent pay increases, high quality health insurance and greater job security. They are represented by Teamsters Local 1224.
