Three Twenty Holdings, Ltd. Selects Rockwell Collins Avionics For 25 New A320s

Full Suite Will Include Hazard Detection System

Three Twenty Holdings, Ltd. has selected a full suite of Rockwell Collins avionics, including the MultiScan Hazard Detection System, for installation on 25 new A320 aircraft. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in September 2009 and last through 2015.

"Three Twenty Holdings, Ltd. is committed to providing their passengers with the highest level of safety and service, and they have found all these qualities in the equipment we're providing for their new fleet of aircraft," said Jeff Standerski, vice president and general manager of Air Transport Systems for Rockwell Collins. "A strong relationship with the company, teamwork across our enterprise, and a solid track record in providing proven avionics solutions all contributed to this win."

The MultiScan Hazard Detection System analyzes and determines actual weather hazards, not simply atmospheric moisture content. The system is derived from extensive operational experience to create a fully automatic, hands-free airborne radar system that reduces pilot workload, enhances safety and passenger comfort by minimizing unexpected turbulence encounters, and provides optimal clutter-free weather displays.

Also selected was the Rockwell Collins GLU-920 Multi-Mode Receiver (MMR), an integrated unit that provides the aircraft's primary position, velocity and time reference and enables precision landing capability. The advanced MMR also offers instrument landing system capability and high-integrity, satellite-based positioning for navigation and future landing functions. The system also offers growth to support microwave landing system capabilities and is designed to meet future air traffic management requirements while offering commonality across fleet types.

Other Rockwell Collins equipment chosen includes: ADF-900 Automatic Direction Finder, DME-900 Distance Measuring Equipment, HFS-900D High Speed Data Radio, VHF-920 Very High Frequency Transmitter, GNA-910 Global Navigation Antenna, LRA-900 Low-range Radio Altimeter, TPR-901 Mode S Transponder and TTR-921 Traffic Collision Avoidance System (TCAS II), RDMI-743 Radio Distance Magnetic Indicator, RAA-700 Radio Altimeter Antenna, CPL-920D Coupling Unit, VOR-900 VHF Omnidirection Range/Marker Beacon Receiver and Airbus Air Traffic Services Unit (ATSU) software.
