Emergency Lighting Proves Lucrative For British Company

STG Aerospace Secures $1 Million Order

STG Aerospace was recently awarded a $1 million contract by Air Canada to provide fluorescent strips that guide passengers to emergency exits.

The order represents one of the largest single orders in STG's 11-year history and comes on the heels of a November contract announcement with British Airways. STG is located in Swaffham, Norfolk County, England.

STG's SafTGlo system's "glow-in-the-dark" strips emit light for up to 16 hours in darkness, and is currently installed in more than 4,000 aircraft from more than 300 airlines.

"This is a very significant order for STG," said STG President Gary Girard. "Not only are we to supply and fit SafTGlo to the domestic fleet of a major world airline, but Air Canada is regularly voted the best carrier in North America and is recognized as one of the world's safest airlines."

"That a leading airline dedicated to customer service and safety is placing its business with STG is a testament to the excellence of SafTGlo and its remarkable service record," said Peter Stokes, managing director at STG to the Norfolk Eastern Daily Press. As Air Canada is partner member of the Star Alliance, Stokes voiced his hope that common procurements may mean "a foot in the door for us."

Additionally, said Stokes, "It has given us an 'in' with the big airlines" and represents a good example of the company's growth with the big operators.

The new variant of SafTGlo, ColorMatch, offers smaller strips than previous products within the SafTGlo range. They are available in 300 colors and can therefore be color-coordinated with aircraft interiors.

"SafTGlo reduces MRO (maintenance, repair and overhaul) costs from the moment of installation and with excellent durability it delivers continued cost minimization in the long term," STG states on its website.

STG was established in 1995 and employs 13 people at its Swaffham base and four people at its US sales and marketing office.
