Groen Brothers Aviation VP Flight Operations Receives Award From AZ Safety Group

Terry Brandt Named Designated Pilot Examiner Of The Year

Gyroplane manufacturer Groen Brothers Aviation, announced Friday the Arizona Aviation Safety Advisory Group (ASAG) has chosen Terry Brandt, GBA Vice President of Flight Operations and Chief Pilot, as their 2006-2007 Designated Pilot Examiner of the Year.

"Terry is an invaluable asset," said David Groen, GBA Chairman, President & CEO, to Aero-News. "His extraordinary skill as a leader and flight instructor have contributed much to the success of our Flight Operations. We are very proud to have his talents recognized with this award."

ASAG was organized as a non-profit corporation in 1972. Volunteer members represent all sectors of the aviation community to include the FAA, commercial, general and military aviation, including pilots, technicians, air traffic controllers, aircraft manufacturers, and airport operators. They assist the Federal Aviation Administration in identifying accident trends, implementing educational programs for pilots and technicians, and preparing aviation safety articles for publication. Candidates for this award are nominated by their peers within the industry, and winners are chosen to represent the state of Arizona in regional and national Federal Aviation Administration Safety Awards Programs.

Terry Brandt was also recently acknowledged by the National Association of Flight Instructors (NAFI) for earning his Master Certified Flight Instructor accreditation for the 4th time.

Groen Brothers Aviation, Inc. (GBA) has been developing gyroplane technology since 1986, and is recognized as the world’s leading authority on autorotative flight. GBA developed the world’s first commercially viable modern gyroplane -- the first "autogyro" to utilize a jet engine -- the Hawk 4 Gyroplane powered by a Rolls-Royce gas turbine engine.

The Hawk 4 was used extensively for security aerial patrol missions during the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City.
