Continental Aerospace Technologies with be powering Diamond Aircraft’s DA50 with their 300 hp, Jet-A fueled CD-300 engine.

The CD-300, certified in December 2017, is a Jet-A fueled piston engine, producing 300 HP, at 9.2 US Gallons per hour, and 2300 RPM. "Matching the CD-300 Jet-A engine with the new DA50 aircraft by Diamond Aircraft Industries is a rekindling of the relationship that created the original successful Jet-A piston powered aircraft." said Rhett Ross, President and CEO, Continental Aerospace Technologies. The United States Parachute Association (USPA) reports that in 2018, 13 people died during skydives in the U.S. This is the lowest annual fatality number since 1961, when USPA (then the Parachute Club of America) began keeping statistics. That year, 14 jumpers died, and the number of fatalities steadily increased for the next two decades before they began to drop in the early 1980s. In 1961, the estimated fatality rate was one fatality for every 9,000 parachute jumps; the fatality rate for 2018 was one fatality for every 253,669. he Citation Jet Pilots Association (CJP) has announced four recipients of the 2019 Bob Hoover Presidential Scholarships: Brandon Baber, junior at ERAU Daytona; Jacob Cook, junior at ERAU Daytona; Matthew Gailey, junior at ERAU Prescott; Otto Maytag, sophomore at ERAU Prescott. This scholarship is presented in partnership between the CJP Safety and Education Foundation and the Bob Hoover Legacy Foundation. In addition to receiving $25,000 toward their aviation-related studies at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. All this -- and MORE in today's episode of Airborne!!!
