Airport Van Collides With Paul Allen Jet

Global Express carrying Microsoft co-founder delayed, wing damaged

It seems that lately there have been an increasing number of collisions between ground vehicles and expensive aircraft at international airports. A few weeks ago two BWIA aircraft, including one of their two Airbus A340's, were damaged by baggage handling vehicles, resulting in very expensive repairs and significant lost income.

On Friday an Asiana Airport Service vehicle slammed into Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen's Global Express super-long-haul business jet. The aircraft was on the ramp at Inchon Airport in Korea, waiting to taxi onto a runway, when the passenger van ran into the aircraft's left wing. As a result, Allen's departure from Korea was delayed for a couple of hours while they made alternate arrangements for travel to their ultimate destination in Athens, Greece, no doubt for the Summer Olympics.
