While at the EAA AirVenture 2016, ANN News Editor, Tom Patton, checked in with Trig Avionics to see what’s new and to get the inside scoop on their products. Tom had the opportunity to speak with Trig Avionics Marketing Manager, John Roper, and in this discussion the topic is the interface of the transponder and ADS-B Out.
Roper starts the conversation by addressing experimental and light sport market and the application of their TT22 transponder. It is a TSO’ed, compact unit, that can fit into a standard instrument cut-out. The TT31 is a stacked configuration and is also a type certificated unit. And, if you want to keep your existing Trig transponder and simply upgraded it, the TN72 is a GPS WAAS add-on for Trig units.
As the conversation continues, Roper talks about the advantages of ADS-B out and how it can improve your flying experience. He offers some interesting insights about ADS-B, and sounds convincing when he says the 2020 mandate is real. This video provides a great view of the equipment and some good advice.
