Low-Cost Regional Carrier Not Part Of Mesa Restructuring
Hawaii's go! Mokulele, Hawaii’s said Tuesday it is not
included in the Mesa Air Group (“Mesa”) Chapter 11
proceedings. Mesa provides regional jet services to go! Mokulele
under a flight services agreement. The joint venture is a separate
entity and is not included in the Mesa Chapter 11 proceedings.
“The people of Hawaii have come to rely on go! Mokulele
for low-fare inter-island travel and our commitment to them remains
unwavering. go! Mokulele looks forward to a long history,”
said Jonathan Ornstein, Chairman and Chief Executive of Mesa Air
Group. “During the Mesa Air Group restructuring go! Mokulele
will continue to operate as before, outside of Chapter 11.
Customers can be assured that tickets will continue to be sold and
honored, all terms and conditions governing tickets purchased
remain the same, and our frequent flyer program remains
intact.”
Founded in 2006, go!, which operates up to 60 flights daily from
its Honolulu hub to Lihue’, Kahului, Kona, and Hilo, became
go! Mokulele in 2009 as a joint venture between Mesa Air Group and
Mokulele Airlines, go! Mokulele has grown into the second largest
carrier in Hawaii.
“In both November and December our year over year traffic
numbers increased, further reinforcing the importance and value of
go! Mokulele to Hawaii and its travelers,” added Orenstein.
“While the Mesa Air Group restructuring will not affect go!
Mokulele operations, the purpose of the transaction is to
strengthen the Company and all of its subsidiaries and joint
ventures.”
