Randy Brown Tapped As VP, GM For Gulfstream Mexicali Site

Former Senior Production Manager At Savannah Headquarters

Gulfstream has promoted Randy Brown to vice president and general manager of its Mexicali site. Mexicali, with more than 1,000 employees, makes wiring harnesses, sheet metal components, sub-assemblies and machined parts that are used in the manufacturing process.

"The Mexicali team has demonstrated a tradition for excellence, and I am excited to learn about the culture and become part of the team," Brown said. "I hope to create an environment where every person has the opportunity to grow individually while we collectively get stronger as a team."

Brown had been senior manager of production operations in Savannah since December 2006. In that role, he was responsible for the Major Assembly business unit and the structural build of the G450 and G550 business-jet production lines.

Prior to Gulfstream, Brown was director of manufacturing and facilities for Plug Power Inc., a leader in the fuel-cell industry, in Latham, NY, During his more than six years with that company, he also served as a production manager and quality manager. Earlier, Brown worked for General Electric Power Systems in Schenectady, NY, for seven years as an eBusiness leader, production leader and Six Sigma Black Belt.

A graduate of the Rochester Institute of Technology with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Brown also earned an MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He will report to Austin Shontz, vice president of Savannah operations and final phase engineering.
