Six European Companies Recognized With Safety Awards

Safety Of Flight Awards Presented For Outstanding Achievements In Flight Operations And Maintenance

The EBAA and NBAA announced the recipients of the 2011 EBAA Safety of Flight Awards Monday night, given to six organizations for outstanding safety records. The awards were presented on May 16 during a post- European Business Aviation Safety Workshop cocktail reception.

Aero-Dienst, Gestair and PrivatAir received the 2011 Platinum Safety of Flight Award (50 years or 100,000 hours without an accident) for their ongoing exemplary flight records. Tyrol Air Ambulance, Robert Bosch and DC Aviation were awarded the 2011 Gold Safety of Flight Award (40 years or 80,000 hours without an accident).

The Safety of Flight Award represents the highest standards of aviation maintenance and flight operations in safe hours flown. "We believe it's important not only to focus on how we can continually improve business aviation safety going forward, but also to honor those with exemplary safety records to date," said Brian Humphries, EBAA President and CEO. "The companies that have received these awards epitomize how a long-standing commitment to safety can add up to a model safety record."

"The organizations we've recognized today have not been content to rest on their laurels," added NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen. "Instead, they've taken advantage of the resources offered by EBAA, NBAA and others. They've made sure to attend key industry safety events, and they've made the safety of flight a part of their organisational culture."

Jointly hosted by the EBAA and NBAA, the European Business Aviation Safety Workshop is dedicated to the safety issues facing aircraft operators in Europe and is held in conjunction with the European Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (EBACE).

In addition to the Safety Workshop, EBAA and NBAA will hold a series of educational sessions focusing on issues of importance to companies operating business aircraft in Europe, including the changing European operating environment, safety management systems, security requirements, airport and transatlantic access issues, and more.
