Angel MedFlight Worldwide Air Ambulance is pleased to announce Matthew Grega as the recipient of the 2011 Angel MedFlight Scholarship for Excellence in Aviation. Grega, a graduate of Horizon High School in Scottsdale, Ariz. is pursuing an Aeronautical Engineering degree at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Prescott, AZ.

"Matthew is an exemplary student who goes above and beyond to succeed in the classroom," stated Angel MedFlight President and CEO Jeremy Freer. "His involvement in academic and extracurricular activities illustrates his commitment to education and growth, and we are confident that he will help shape the future of aviation. We are pleased to award the 2011 Scholarship for Excellence in Aviation to such an exceptional student."

Angel MedFlight sponsors the annual scholarship in conjunction with the Arizona Business Aviation Association (AZBAA) to promote leadership and resourcefulness in Arizona aviation students. The award includes $3,000 toward Grega's tuition and a commemorative plaque. This is the second year that Angel MedFlight has offered the scholarship. Andrew Cochran, an Aeronautical Science Dean's List student at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, received the 2010 scholarship.

A member of the National Honor Society and the Society of Gentlemen Scholars, Grega graduated from Horizon High School with a 3.80 grade point average. As a senior on the Husky boys' lacrosse team, he earned the Wendy's High School Heisman for his outstanding play. He is a participant in the U.S. Air Force ROTC program, and his career goals include designing fighter jets.
