Ryanair Passenger Gets His Money Back, And Then Some

Airline Charged Over $450 For Printing Boarding Passes

Lucas Marshall was getting ready to travel back to his U.K. home from the Canary Islands, but found himself unable to print his own boarding passes on Ryanair because of his booking preferences.

When he got to the airport, he was charged £320, or about $459, for Ryanair to print the documents for himself, his wife and three children.

He paid the fee to get his family, the youngest of which is four years old, on the airplane, but they were scattered around the airplane.

When the airline refused to refund his money, he sent took legal action, which the U.K. newspaper The Daily Mail reports was largely ignored by the airline. Because Ryanair did not respond to the court notice, it automatically lost the case, and the court sent bailiffs to the airline's headquarters to demand the reimbursement.

The incident occurred in February of last year. In December, Marshall finally received a check from Ryanair for £610, or about $875.

But Marshall says that Ryanair still has not apologized, or admitted that it did anything wrong.

He says that the matter had become one of principle, and he plans to frame the check and display it at his home.
